For a second successive session I led a double-period morning hike with Lakota campers wandering up four different trails above the Valley, with the Forstmann-era deer-fence patrol "Line Shack" as our destination. The path we take is about 4.2 miles in total. One of the points of the activity is to enable these girls to prove to themselves that they can undertake a real hike, that it can be lots of fun, and that such trails exist just above their cabins (the Perimeter Trail runs along just behind and above cabins 41-50).
Here are some photos of the Cabin 41 gang along the way. They were a diverse and really fun group. They sang songs pretty much the whole way along the trail. Classic camp.
