That Harry Potter-ish/Hermione-ish young woman calling roll for the Harry Potter team is none other than my daughter Hannah, who was tapped to be a "producer" (head coach)!
Session 3's all-day all-camp program. Today. Well, imagine Olympics pressed into a single day, where the teams are not countries to thematically broad popular movies. So one team is Star Wars, another is Harry Potter, and so on. It's easy to see how the head coach (or "producer") could get somewhere with this idea: costumes are a cinch, music and cheers/chants readymade, lots of familiarity among the campers. Instant all-camp program! That's not to say it won't take tons of energy, but...well...here we go!
Third session's all-camp program day was a "Battle of the Theme Days Theme Day." In other words, teams were formed each to represent a theme day: pirates, fairy tales, cavemen (I remember "Caveman Day" from years ago here), etc. Here's a snapshot of some of the cavemen. They sang the Flinstones theme song ("Have a yabba-dabba-doo time, a yabba-do time....") at the evening ceremonies. The Pirates "won" and will be the host of "Battle of the Theme Days Theme Day" next year.
1959. It's an all-camp program, one of those thematic gigs: "Roman Celebration Days." Ralph Holt leads Ceaesar (Mike DeVita) to the dining hall during the Roman Celebration Days. Camp secretary Marian is at his side (one of the few women in camp). The campers from Mike's cabin in Forest Village hold the cape as his attendants. And below is another shot of DeVita and his attendants, looking fairly dramatic and authentic.
