Monica moves up
The staff generations "age" quickly here at Frost Valley. (So says he who in 1975 was suddenly promoted to be the Program Director at 19.) Young people assume great responsibilities sooner rather than later. I love watching this. I've known Monica Robles since she was 10. Last night, at the weekly VC meeting, the Susky VC (mentioned previously in this blog) Sarah Boyd brought along Monica, currently one of the Susky counselors, to give Monica a sense of what the VCs do when they meet administratively to plan (collaboratively and complexly) the coming week's activity schedule. This doesn't mean that Monica is bound for a VCship in 2013, but it does mean...well...that she's movin' on up in the eyes and minds of the people who make these decisions. Another expression of this comes during Olympics - when the ten Head Coaches are chosen from among talented and promising counselors (and in rare instances, junior counselors). Anyway, I was thrilled to see Monica attending her first VC meeting - and she and Sarah gave me an apt facial look for the celebratory photo. Responsibility! Here we come.
